What does your wedding color scheme say about you?

Red, Pink or Purple?
These are a few of the most popular colors used for weddings. What does your choice of color say about you?

Choosing the right color scheme for your wedding might be one of the most significant part of your planning; from invitation cards, centerpieces to flowers and bridesmaid dresses! Picking the perfect shade is vital to personalizing your wedding while bringing out your true colors!

Pink:
Pink is a soft feminine color that gives off a sense of a caring, gentle spirit. Simple and classic, using pink at your wedding can set an overall vibe of peace and serenity as well as providing comfort and amity for your guests. It may also show your optimism and hope for your married life in the future. If pink is your favorite color, it represents you as a loving, lighthearted person that flows with ease through life.

Purple:
Purple symbolizes inspiration and imagination. Using shades of purple such as violet or indigo connote your desire for individualism and brings out your creative side. You are free-spirited yet at the same time, need to  balance yourself with order and perfection. As the innovative individual that you are, you want your wedding to be just as unique, making a bold statement and straying away from the conventional soft colors such as pink or peach.

Red:
If you have an unconditional love for red, it shows that you are assertive and like to live life to its fullest. Always energetic and confident, you have a passion for life and hold a strong character. This powerful color also symbolizes love and lust and in Chinese culture represents good luck. This color is also often used as a color for the wedding gowns in Indian culture which signifies purity. Red at your wedding will bring out your vibrant spirit and an air full of passion and romance, perfect for committing to a lifelong marriage.

What color would you choose?

Annika & Justin's Prewedding Session

It was an absolutely perfect day for a photo-shoot on the day of Annika & Justin's prewedding. Annika's gown was the perfect balance between classy and contemporary; not to mention the perfect style for her stunning shape, and Justin's black tux flattered his long, lean legs. This picture perfect couple made for beautiful photos and they seemed to have enjoyed modeling their way through the downtown core. Here's a sneak peek of a few of their captured moments!

Wedding Cake Madness! (Fake vs. Real Cakes)

Cake searching for your wedding can be a drag when it comes to taste testing, cost, and looking for the perfect bakery to cater to all your ‘cake’ needs.

With your infinite “to do” list to prepare for your wedding, the cake should be the least of your worries. Besides, desert is almost always included within the course meal that your venue/catering services provide, so why stuff your guests with more sweets than necessary? On top of that, your venue will most likely ask you for a serving price (typically per plate) for the cake that you’ve brought in yourself.

That being said, there is a solution to this cake madness... fake cakes! Fake cakes are a miraculous alternative to solving all your problems when it comes to choosing your pointlessly massive stack of cream and pricey edible decor.

How it works:

The first couple layers of the cake is made of styrofoam, all decorated with what looks like “icing”. Most of the time, people won't even be able to tell the difference. You can choose to add the top layer with your own small cake for cake-cutting (and as an excuse to take home all to yourself). Having the bottom as fake cake and a small yet real one on the top gives you both the benefit of participating in the traditional cake-cutting, as well as saving the cost of having a full edible cake that most likely won’t even be finished. Plus, no serving costs applied since you won’t be sharing that real layer of the cake with anyone else!

All that time and energy saved, and you get to choose your own flavour and décor that the two of you would enjoy!

Here at WeddingStory we can provide you with a beautiful 3 layer fake cake with your choice of placing a real cake on top! For those who are smart and want to stay on or under their budget, get yourself a fake cake for your special day!

Behind the Scenes of our Pre-wedding Photoshoots

Prewedding photoshoots are a great alternative to engagement photos or even as an add on. Taking all of your photos in the dresses of your choice takes a lot off your plate for your actual wedding day.

A prewedding photoshoot start off quite early into the day while its still sunny out! If it rains, no problem; you can always reschedule for a nicer day (unlike the date of your wedding in which you have to stick with rain or shine).

The day starts with our clients coming into the studio to get their hair perked and their makeup done professionally. Once they're all dressed into their wedding gown, accessories are available to choose from; tiaras, necklaces, bracelets, hair pieces, earrings... the whole nine yards!

After hours of boredom and sitting on the couch with their phones, the grooms finally get their chance to get their own hair & "manly" make-up done before suiting up. The couple now dressed to the nines, get a short tutorial on how to pose by John, our head photographer. Then off to the outdoor shoot!

Here's a mix of some of the behind the scene moments:
John, our head photographer takes us to the Vancouver Public Library where the couple gets a feel for their poses ~

Last summer, this couple decided to have a portion of their photoshoot on their friend's yacht. It was warm day with a nice breeze, and we still remember how the bride's white dress glimmered under the sunlight.

Yaletown's Cityview

To get to this stunning rocky waterfront area on English Bay, the bride had to fight her way down giant boulders and hundreds of small rocks in her wedding dress! Once we got back up those rocks, people on the seawall were clapping and cheering for the bride. In the end it was worthwhile and we'd do it all over again if it means getting these amazing shots in.

In one of our recent pre-wedding photoshoots, this couple decided to bring in another family member to the studio shoot. To our surprise (and pleasure), it was this adorable border collie! She was born to be a doggy model and definitely contributed to the cutest little family portrait!
