Winter Wedding Planning - in the summer.

With this amazing summer we've been having here in Vancouver, you would think that the focus would be on outdoor and summer weddings; but these are simply the outcomes of a years worth of planning. In reality, with the overwhelming amount of tasks to take care of when preparing for a successful wedding, committing to a year of planning is essential. So, for those who are newly engaged and ready to take that next step into the exciting world of wedding planning, here are a few tips to bring out that unique feel to your winter wonderland theme.

Don't be afraid to embrace that winter vibe. Instead of worrying about having to bring in warmth to the wedding, try emphasizing that winter magic by incorporating hints of glitter, crystal or even bringing in ice sculptures for that little extra oomph.

When it comes to colors, less is more - don't overdo it with gold, red and greens. This is your wedding, not the holidays. Silver and whites may seem too cold with no contrast against the winter weather, but accenting these colors with satin and velvet materials will create that warm and welcoming atmosphere without overdoing it with cheesy Christmas colors.

As for centerpieces, if you decide to go for the popular candlelight centerpiece, frosted glass holders can be the perfect option to balancing the warmth and the icy beauty of your winter wedding.

And finally for your wedding gown, try for soft and luxurious. Choosing rich fabrics such as satin for your dress will make you stand out like a winter queen. Lace patterns and embellished sleeves will make for a stunning final touch to this look.

Colette & Tommy's Wedding Day

Colette and Tommy's day was rich with laughter, happiness and many tears of joy. Their day was a long one, starting from dawn and ending at dusk, but it was well worth it and memorable.

Getting up with the sun and getting ready for her big day, Colette nervously awaited for her groom and his groomsmen to arrive at her hotel room at the Sandman Hotel. When Tommy finally arrived they began with the traditional Chinese door-games (however, not to so traditional as the bridesmaids had many of their own ideas and tricks up their sleeves); starting with what the groomsmen were forced to wear during the game. Their attire - Women's lingerie! After tons of laughs and some lighthearted humiliation, the bridal party set off to the ceremony venue.

After the ceremony, the married couple and the guests joined together at the church's gymnasium for some refreshments and Tommy's surprise to Colette; the re-enactment of their proposal that was previously made at the Great Wall of China. The guests were touched by such a surprise and Colette seemed very moved and teared up with happiness.

Before the reception, the couple and their gang had some free time to take group shots at Bear Creek Park. The park was stunning with green scenes and tons of bloomed flowers. They seemed to have a load of fun while fooling around and enjoying the beautiful summer weather.

Arriving at the reception, the couple, the bridesmaids and the groomsmen began with a dance off. Their k-pop themed girls versus guys dance off was very entertaining to watch and it was nice to see the newly weds finally loosen up after their ceremony. The night continued on with moving speeches from the couple, Colette and Tommy's first dance and more gangnam style dancing! With toasts, blessing, best wishes and congratulations, the couple ended their night with sparklers under the summer night's stars.
